Your birth details
stay yours.

This policy explains what information Kendraya handles, what happens to it, and the choices you have. The short version: your birth date, time and place are used to calculate your chart and are not stored on my servers, not placed in web addresses and never used to target advertising.

Who runs Kendraya

Kendraya is an independent project run by one person. In this policy "I" and "me" refer to the operator of kendraya.com. If you have a question about this policy or want to exercise a privacy right, email [email protected].

What happens when you calculate a chart

You enter a birth date, a birth time (or say that it is unknown) and a birthplace. Those details are sent to Kendraya's calculation service in the body of a secure request, never in the page address. The service uses them in memory to compute your chart and returns the result to your browser. I do not write birth details to a database, and the application is built not to log them. Chart responses are marked as private and not to be cached.

A chart request also names your browser's time zone, for example Europe/London, so that today's reading and the daily dates match your local day. A time zone is not a location. It is used for that calculation only and is not stored, added to your saved profile or sent to analytics. An open chart recalculates itself when the local date changes, when a life period ends or when you return to it after a while. It uses the details already on screen and never sends a saved profile before you choose to open it.

Like almost every website, the hosting infrastructure keeps standard server logs for security and reliability. These can include your IP address, browser type, the time of the request and the page requested. They do not include the contents of a chart request.

Baby name finder

The baby name finder is for adult parents and guardians. You can browse its name collection without supplying a birth record. If you calculate a naming guide for a child, the birth date, time, birthplace and any approximate-time choice are sent securely to the calculation service for transient processing in memory. They are not written to a database, application logs, web addresses or analytics. The calculation response is private and marked not to be cached. This tool does not save the child's birth record in browser storage; the form and result remain in memory during your visit. Name preferences and search filters are sent separately to the name search service, without birth details. Matching public names and filter choices are cached in this browser tab for the session, so returning to a result does not require another request. This cache contains no birth record or calculated chart and is separate from your saved shortlist.

Selecting a heart saves only known catalog name IDs in local storage on that device. It does not save a child's name, birth record or naming calculation. This shortlist is not encrypted or synced, and anyone using the same browser profile can view it. Use "Clear shortlist" in the finder, remove individual hearts, or clear the site's browser data to delete it.

"Share this naming guide" creates a link containing the selected Nakshatra, Pada, naming-sound choice and gender, origin, country and sound-matching filters in the part after the # symbol. It excludes the birth record, search text and saved-name shortlist. Anyone you give that link to can read those guide choices; sharing is optional. The browser does not send that fragment in its page request, and Kendraya excludes it from analytics.

Birthplace search

When you type a city, the text you typed is forwarded to the Open-Meteo geocoding service (which uses GeoNames data) to find matching places. That service receives the search text and a network address, but not your birth date or time. You can skip the search entirely by entering coordinates and a time zone under the location options.

What is saved in your browser

Nothing is saved unless you choose it. "Remember me on this device" stores your birth profile in your browser's local storage so your chart can be reopened without retyping. "Save note on this device" stores a dated journal note in the same place. These records never leave your browser, do not sync between devices and are not encrypted, so anyone with access to the same browser profile could read them.

You can delete both at any time with "Clear saved profile and notes" inside your chart, or by clearing site data in your browser settings. A chart file you downloaded is a separate file on your device and is yours to keep or delete.

The site opens in its light display. The sun or moon button in the header switches between the light and dark displays. When your browser allows it, pressing the button saves that one choice in this browser's local storage so the next page and the next visit open the same way; if storage is blocked, the choice lasts for the current page only. Nothing is saved until you press the button, the setting holds only the word "light" or "dark" and no birth data or other personal information, it is never sent to my servers or to analytics, and clearing site data in your browser removes it.

Analytics

With your permission, I use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how the site is used: which pages are visited, roughly where visitors come from, what devices they use. GA4 uses cookies or similar identifiers and processes data on Google's servers, which may be outside your country. I configure analytics so that birth details, chart placements, baby-name preferences, shortlists and journal text are never sent as events, parameters or user properties. Automatic form tracking, Google signals and advertising personalization are disabled. Analytics only loads after you choose "Allow analytics", wherever you live. You can withdraw that consent at any time through "Privacy choices" in the footer. Event data is retained for up to 14 months.

You can also opt out of Google Analytics across all websites with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising

I may show advertisements through Google AdSense on some pages, for example learning articles. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads, which may be personalised based on your visits to this and other sites. I will never share your birth details, chart attributes or journal notes with advertising services, and I do not intend to show ads on the birth details form or inside your journal. You can manage personalised advertising in Google's Ads Settings and learn more at How Google uses information from sites that use its services. Where consent is required for advertising cookies, ads will not load until you have given it.

Affiliate links

Some pages may contain affiliate links, including links to Amazon. If you buy something through one of these links I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Affiliate networks may set their own cookies when you follow such a link so the referral can be recorded. Affiliate links are marked, and my recommendations are never influenced by what a chart says about you.

Moon and calculator pages

The Moon phase page estimates moonrise and moonset for your approximate area from the city-level location that Cloudflare derives from your connection. I use it only to draw that page and do not store it. You can choose another place instead; only that place is sent. The sign and return calculators send your birth details in the body of a single request, never in the web address, and nothing is kept after the answer is returned. Calendar downloads contain only public calculated dates.

Cookies and consent

Birth-chart calculations work without cookies. Horoscope pages use a functional session cookie, kendraya.timezone, to remember your browser’s time zone and show the correct local day. It contains no birth details or unique visitor identifier. If it is blocked, dates use the available network time zone or UTC, labelled on the page. Optional analytics, advertising and affiliate services may use separate identifiers. The consent panel lets you accept or reject analytics before it loads. Your choice is saved in this browser so you do not have to repeat it. You can change it through "Privacy choices" in the footer. Rejecting analytics removes its cookies and stops further analytics collection. Advertising and affiliate tracking are not currently active.

Children

Kendraya is intended for adults, not for children under 16 to use on their own. An adult parent or guardian may submit a child's birth details to the baby name finder as described above; that information is processed for the calculation and is not retained on my servers. If you believe a child has submitted information directly, contact me so I can address the concern. Any saved browser records or downloaded files need to be removed from the device where they were saved.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information, to object to or restrict its use, to data portability, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Because birth details are not stored on my servers, the most effective way to delete your data is to clear it from your own browser as described above. For anything else, email me and I will respond within thirty days.

Changes to this policy

I will update this page before introducing analytics, advertising, affiliate links, accounts or any other change that affects how information is handled, and the date at the top will change. Material changes will be announced on the site.
