Which signs do the 2024 Mercury retrogrades affect?

Each retrograde falls in a different house for each sign, counted from your own sign as the first house. Use your Sun or rising sign for the Western count and your Moon sign for the Vedic one. When a retrograde backs into the previous sign, the house shown is the one where it turns retrograde. These are traditional readings, offered for reflection.

What each house is traditionally said to revisit

  1. 1st house. How you present yourself. Revise how you describe yourself and your plans before announcing them.
  2. 2nd house. Money and belongings. Re-check bills, subscriptions and purchases before you commit.
  3. 3rd house. Messages, short trips and siblings. Reread before sending and leave extra time for local travel.
  4. 4th house. Home and family. Old household conversations and unfinished repairs come back round.
  5. 5th house. Creative projects and dating. An old idea or an old flame is the traditional theme; revise before you reveal.
  6. 6th house. Daily work and routines. Check schedules, tools and the small details of the working day.
  7. 7th house. Partners and agreements. Review terms with a partner or client rather than signing in haste.
  8. 8th house. Shared money. Loans, taxes and joint accounts are the traditional review.
  9. 9th house. Long journeys and study. Confirm bookings, and return to a course or idea you set aside.
  10. 10th house. Career and public role. Revisit goals and double-check what goes out under your name.
  11. 11th house. Friends and groups. Old friends reappear, and group plans need a second confirmation.
  12. 12th house. Rest and reflection. A quiet stretch for journaling, finishing loose ends and thinking before speaking.

Was Mercury retrograde when I was born?

About one person in five is born with Mercury retrograde. A sign table reads a retrograde against your sign alone; your birth chart places it in your own houses, counted from your rising sign. For the day-to-day picture, each sign’s daily and weekly horoscope reads the current sky the same way. Check my birth chart

Stations are calculated to the minute from NASA/JPL DE440s orbital data by Kendraya Engine (how the positions are calculated). The pre-shadow begins when Mercury first reaches the degree where it later turns direct; the post-shadow ends when it passes the degree where it turned retrograde. Terms: retrograde.
